Otto Link Early Babbitt 7 Hard Rubber Tenor Mouthpiece

I bought this mouthpiece on eBay on July 9, 2006, from a player from England for 220$. It really came in original condition, tip size 7. Table, chamber, rails, tip all excellent in original condition. This one played very nice and easy, very similar tone to my Slant signature. I would have kept it but I also bought another Slant signature that I had fallen in love with. So, this one had to go to some other lucky player. Really great piece. I could only confirm that this one was Early Babbitt piece, not just an older Link.

Here is what Theo says about these:
"These mouthpieces are the first to have the signature of "Otto Link" written straight across the back of the mouthpieces. They also read USA on the shank, have a larger tip opening font, and a larger inner shank diameter. These have about the same amount of baffle material in them as the Florida models, but have a slightly narrower window. The hard rubber altos gained some material in the baffle area and floor from most of the Florida models so actually increased the projection from this point. The sopranos moved to a smaller chamber (just a little larger than the vintage Selmer Soloist pieces), and so have a very nice sound like the vintage Selmers."

Sold it on August 5, 2006, for 390$, to another player in Soeul, South Korea. Good luck!

Original add

This tenor sax mouthpiece is an Otto Link early Babbitt Tone Edge hard rubber approx 1974 to 1979 purchased from a local professional sax player some years ago. It is a fine blowing mouthpiece. The photographs show that the engraving has worn off in several places but part of the signature is visible, the number 7 showing faintly on the side of the shank, USA (height approx 1.2mm same height as my alto stm) is engraved on the top edge of the shank and the words Tone Edge are just visible. There are very slight teeth marks on the bite plate but these are only light scratches and would not effect playing at all. They would probably polish out as most of the original decoration has. The original orange box (Elkhart, Indiana) facing number 7 is included. The box has slight damage and a semi-removed sticker, there is no original ligature or cap. There appears to be absolutely no wear to the side rails or tip. I do not think that the mouthpiece has been modified and apart from the wear described, it has at least 95% well buffed ebonite finish. The mouthpiece is remarkably new looking compared to my more recent soprano tone edge. Relisted - not slant signature as originally wrongly described.
